If possible, I would give the Dell XPS 15 4.5 stars.
I purchased the Dell XPS 15 having previously owned an incredibly thin and light 13-inch convertible laptop. I was thus a bit concerned about the size and weight of the machine. I shouldn't have been. The infinity display reduces the footprint of the laptop by quite a bit; it truly is a 15 in. screen in the body of a 14 in. laptop. Yes, it is hefty at 4.5 lbs, but that weight also engenders confidence in its strength--one gets the sense it could take a beating and come out relatively unscathed. The unboxing was amazing; the laptop is absolutely stunning, expertly crafted and strong. The keyboard, as numerous reviews state, is merely average, but the trackpad is phenomenal and more than makes up for it. The screen, of course, is a delight to look at. Needless to say, all the pixels in the 4K display really do put a dent in the battery life, so don't purchase this if you need to spend more than roughly six hours away from an outlet regularly.
The software, on the other hand, leaves a bit to be desired. Windows 10 on the XPS 15 is still a bit buggy, though it seems updates are coming fairly frequently, so I hope it will be sorted out relatively quickly. Out of the box, I had a very small issue and simply reset the system, which took care of it. I have had a few other issues, but nothing major (i.e. nothing that impedes my work).
Overall, this laptop is truly incredible. It is the highest-quality piece of technology I've ever owned, and goes toe-to-toe with any other laptop in terms of build-quality. It's both beautiful and functional. Once the software issues are ironed out, no other laptop will compare.
