Either windows 8 or windows 8.1, some of you may experience this error (BSOD). There are different things that can cause this error. Some of you may try to change the power options but the problem persist. There are easier way to identify the culprit and what needs to be done to solve the problem.
1. Look at the dump file, example :

The error shows " iaStorA.sys" which refer to storage driver. For intel model, normally you will have intel matrix storage manager installed in your system. Uninstalling this driver will resolve the issue.
2. New Updates/Upgrades or Old Drivers:
If you updates you drivers or installed or driver version for your windows 8. This actions could be the factor. Try to uninstall the updates or try to use the latest driver available.
A well known issue is for nvidia users and you can solve this problem by using nvidia tools on their website: www.nvidia.com.
For HP/Compaq user, most of the time your wireless mouse and unifying receiver is the problem. You need to remove them to solve the problems.
